This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Monitor incoming flights and daily pre-alerts; verify freight recovery schedules and ULD breakdowns with airport ground handling personnel post-arrival.
• Collaborate with our US customs broker to ensure all entry documentation (manifests, commercial invoices, HTS data) is accurate and submitted promptly, track clearance status, and follow up on holds and examinations until release.
• Oversee the transition to our US ground handler, including airport recovery, sorting, and transportation to last-mile induction points.
• Confirm inductions with last-mile carriers, match manifests against scans, and immediately report any short-shipped or missing freight.
• Manage exceptions on the US leg: address flight delays and rollovers, customs holds, damaged or missing items, mis-sorts — investigate issues, communicate effectively, and drive toward resolution.
• Conduct a structured daily handover with our operations team based in China to ensure seamless communication between the end of the day in China and the morning in the US.
• Maintain up-to-date shipment milestones in our systems and assist with SLA and vendor performance reporting.
• Document recurring issues to create playbooks for customs holds, escalation paths for recovery, and vendor contact directories.
• 1–3 years of experience in airfreight operations, freight forwarding (import/gateway desk), customs brokerage, or airline/ground-handler cargo operations; strong recent graduates with pertinent internships are welcome.
• Familiarity with air cargo fundamentals: MAWB/HAWB, ULDs, freight recovery, and ideally the US customs entry process (entry types, holds, exams).
• Excellent written communication skills — this role involves rapid, clear, and precise emails and messages to vendors and colleagues across different time zones.
• Highly organized, capable of tracking numerous shipments involving multiple parties simultaneously without losing focus.
• Proficient in spreadsheets and quick to adapt to internal systems and dashboards.
• Self-motivated and composed under pressure — you will be the first and only operations representative in the US for this route.
• Genuine flexibility in work hours: freight arrives early in the mornings and on weekends, and our China team operates during the US evening; this position requires early morning coverage and participation in an on-call rotation.
• Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
• Opportunities for professional growth and development.
• Dynamic work environment with a focus on teamwork.
• Flexible working hours to accommodate different time zones.
