Online Visiting Professor – Outpatient Coding

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and deliver a DeVry University syllabus that meets the established terminal course objectives.

• Organize, prepare, revise, and refresh course materials regularly.

• Utilize online tools and course-related software, including websites, email, and online discussions.

• Instruct courses and programs following DeVry University standards.

• Implement teaching strategies to fulfill course and program goals.

• Exemplify strong oral and written communication skills.

• Establish course expectations, objectives, assignment and examination schedules, as well as evaluation criteria.

• Ensure that examinations are consistent with course terminal objectives.

• Prepare and grade exams fairly and consistently, providing prompt feedback.

• Incorporate responsible AI usage into classroom instruction and learning.

• Identify, assess, and manage appropriate and inappropriate student usage of AI tools.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree in a healthcare-related discipline from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent experience.

• Required outpatient coding experience.

• Current professional experience in a healthcare environment.

• Active industry-related certification: CCS.

• At least 5 years of recent outpatient coding experience in the field.

• Proficient understanding of electronic health/medical records.

• Familiarity with IT systems and their functions within the healthcare sector.

• Knowledge of health insurance and reimbursement processes.

• Understanding of health privacy and ethics.

• Knowledge of reimbursement methodologies and billing operations.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings.

• Dedication to ongoing professional growth in instructional technology, digital literacy, and responsible AI practices.
