Oncology Field Medical Director, Hematology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide expertise in therapeutic areas and products related to malignant hematology and pipeline across various medical customer segments and initiatives.

• Develop and implement medical strategies and engagement plans for designated customers within the Northern CA, OR, WA, ID, and AK regions.

• Stay informed about malignant hematology, related disease states, and Pfizer's medications.

• Communicate medical information to healthcare professionals (HCPs) and relay customer insights back to Pfizer.

• Contribute to the strategy for medical content and execute Field Medical tactics that are aligned.

• Present approved medical content and scientifically validated information regarding Pfizer's medicines.

• Identify key customer segments and manage incoming HCP inquiries through the established triage process.

• Collaborate with Oncology R&D and Global Product Development to pinpoint clinical trial sites, particularly those catering to under-represented patient populations.

• Offer medical support during the Investigator Sponsored Research process.

• Develop expertise in malignant hematology and become acquainted with congress data and disease-state literature.

• Provide leadership regarding assets and communicate concepts related to study design, methodologies, data analysis, and interpretation.

• Oversee the assigned territory and engage with local Patient Advocacy Groups.

• Provide insights into the structures, capabilities, and needs of patient organizations.

• Serve on cross-functional committees related to medical, therapeutic areas, and asset management.

• Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs in professional associations and clinical societies.

• Mentor onboarding partners, advisory board leaders, and study leads.

• Manage projects in a remote setting and collaborate with matrixed, multidisciplinary teams.

• Travel regularly for HCP/customer meetings, internal meetings, and scientific congresses.


⛳️ Requirements

• An MD or DO degree is required.

• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in malignant hematology is required.

• Recognized subject matter expertise in malignant hematology among internal and external stakeholders.

• Current residence in Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, or Alaska, preferably near San Francisco, Sacramento, Portland, or Seattle.

• Capability to manage a significant volume of projects remotely and prioritize effectively.

• Ability to work within a matrixed, multidisciplinary team environment.

• Skills to lead and adapt to changes in a dynamic healthcare landscape.

• Proficient in problem-solving and networking across the enterprise.

• Quick to adopt and utilize new digital technologies and resources.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Must be able to operate a Pfizer company vehicle.

• Ability to fly regularly for work-related travel.

• Willingness to travel 60–80% of the time.

• Reasonable proximity to an airline hub city is necessary.

• Availability to work weekends as needed.

• Deep expertise and/or clinical experience in malignant hematology is preferred.

• An established HCP network within the territory is preferred.

• Previous experience in Field Medical is preferred.

• Familiarity with pertinent SOPs, rules, and regulations is preferred.

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. by any employer.

• Permanent work authorization in the United States is required.

• U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.
