This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Oversee the hospital-based registry for cancer patients.
• Identify, abstract, report, follow up, and compile statistics for local, state, and national registration initiatives.
• Support the upkeep of a comprehensive cancer program within the hospital, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
• Manage an ACoS-approved cancer registry in accordance with VDH guidelines.
• Engage in Cancer Committee meetings and facilitate cancer conferences.
• Keep accurate records of cancer conference documentation.
• Provide training and mentorship to fellow Cancer Registry staff.
• Execute case ascertainment processes.
• Liaise with physicians and/or office managers regarding documentation requirements.
• Relay hospital cancer data to the Virginia Cancer Registry and National Cancer Data Base.
• Aid in the creation of policies and procedures for cancer registry operations.
• ODS or CTR certification is mandatory.
• An associate degree in an allied health field is preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is required.
• Experience with computerized systems, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, is essential.
• A minimum of one year of experience in an ACoS-approved cancer registry is preferred.
• Previous experience collaborating with physicians is preferred.
• Annual flu vaccination provided.
