Oncology Data Specialist – Cancer Registrar

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accountable for identifying cancer cases, abstracting relevant data, staging, follow-up, and ensuring the accuracy of cancer registry information.

• Guaranteeing comprehensive and precise oncology data collection to enhance patient care, support quality improvement initiatives, comply with regulatory reporting, and achieve cancer program accreditation.

• Allocate time for abstracting and case finding activities to fulfill the standards established by the Commission on Cancer (CoC), state, and national reporting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Preferably an Associate degree in Health Information Management, Cancer Registry Management, Nursing, Allied Health, or a related healthcare discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

• Certification as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-Certified) / Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) is mandatory.

• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Cancer Registry is required.

• Demonstrated experience in cancer case finding and abstracting newly diagnosed cancer cases.

• Familiarity with ICD-O coding and cancer staging methodologies is essential.

• Proficient in utilizing electronic medical records and cancer registry software.

• Preferred experience of three (3) or more years in abstracting newly diagnosed cancer cases.

• Experience within a Commission on Cancer (CoC)-accredited cancer program is preferred.

• Successful completion of an NCRA-approved Cancer Information Management or Cancer Registry curriculum is preferred.

• Knowledge of AJCC staging, SEER reporting requirements, and CoC accreditation standards is preferred.

• Experience with annual reporting, quality studies, and registry data analysis is preferred.
