Oncology Data Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Conduct cancer casefinding, accessioning, and abstraction of oncology cases into VHA-approved cancer registry software.

• Record and validate all coded data utilizing detailed text fields.

• Assign American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) Tumor-Node-Metastasis (TNM) staging for all qualifying cases.

• Ensure that registry data aligns with reporting requirements for the VA Central Cancer Registry and State Central Cancer Registries.

• Uphold compliance with all relevant registry standards and coding guidelines.

• Maintain patient follow-up information, including the latest vital status and disease status.

• Provide the Contract Manager with a summary of completed cases.

⛳️ Requirements

• ODS-C credential in good standing.

• At least 2+ years of ODS-C, cancer registry experience.

• Proven experience in cancer case abstraction, staging, and registry data standards.

• Capability to sustain ODS-C certification through necessary continuing education credits.

• Ability to fulfill all VA mandatory training and educational requirements by specified deadlines.
