This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho, +1 more state.
• Conduct and assist in nuclear criticality safety assessments to ensure the secure handling, storage, processing, and transportation of fissile materials.
• Create, review, and uphold criticality safety documentation, analyses, and procedures.
• Identify, assess, and implement criticality safety controls and limits for nuclear operations and projects.
• Offer technical direction and support to engineering, operations, and safety teams.
• Engage in audits, inspections, and reviews to verify adherence to nuclear safety regulations and standards.
• Aid in hazard analyses, risk assessments, and safety evaluations for nuclear facilities and activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address safety concerns and facilitate project execution.
• Assist in the development and presentation of nuclear criticality safety training as required.
• Stay informed about updates in regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
• Effectively communicate and share information in a team-oriented environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field; or a high school diploma (or equivalent) combined with relevant technical experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in the nuclear sector, including roles involving nuclear materials, nuclear safety, or regulated nuclear operations.
• Experience in supporting or conducting safety analyses, technical evaluations, or safety-related documentation.
• Knowledge of nuclear safety principles, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (DOE, NRC, or equivalent).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing capabilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering, operations, and safety teams.
• Proficient in using MCNP or SCALE for criticality safety analyses.
• Proficient with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Successful completion of drug screening.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
