• Provides daily leadership and guidance to one full-time direct report – Field Safety Coordinator.
• Plan, implement, manage, and uphold comprehensive environmental health & safety programs across various construction project sites.
• Offer Project Teams advice on health and safety, ensuring that project sites comply with industry, local, state, and federal HSE guidelines and regulations.
• Accountable for maintaining a safety presence at construction job sites, conducting inspections, performing hazard analyses, and generating reports.
• Oversee and execute HSE priorities within the construction division.
• Conduct HSE audits to verify compliance, assess performance, identify corrective actions, and implement follow-up evaluations.
• Establish, execute, and monitor ongoing compliance training programs and HSE orientations for all employees and subcontractors at the construction project sites.
• Support Project Managers in the Accident/Near Miss Reporting and Investigation processes.
• Report injuries to Worker’s Compensation Insurance and management and ensure necessary follow-up.
• Liaise with OSHA, EPA, and state agencies when needed.
• Serve as the company’s safety representative to customers and attend meetings as assigned by the Management Group.
• Coordinate subcontractor HSE plans, activities, and reporting to guarantee compliance with company, governmental, and subcontractor regulations.
• Manage all field reports and ensure proper filing of daily safety documents, accident analyses, recordkeeping, and training certificates in accordance with regulatory and internal standards.
• Enter and keep current company data/statistics in ISNetworld or other third-party and customer databases, as required.
• Develop site-specific health and safety plans as mandated by customers/projects.
• Ensure all CDL drivers comply with DOT requirements regarding licensing, drug testing, etc.
• Monitor, audit, and report on adherence to requirements.
• Respond to bid requests and inquiries from Project Managers and customers concerning HSE data.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial and construction environmental, health, and safety management.
• Experience with High Voltage (> 69kV) cable systems and installations.
• Experience working in energized substations or manholes up to 345 kV is desirable.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA 1926 Standards and EPA regulations.
• Experience in a unionized environment.
• Familiarity with EPA regulations regarding hazardous materials, spill prevention, waste management, wastewater, and stormwater.
• Knowledge of Canadian Safety and Environmental regulations is a plus.
• Current certifications in CPR and OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety are highly desirable.
