This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Evaluate Long Term Disability (LTD) claims adhering to established timelines and policy guidelines while prioritizing a client-first mentality.
• Conduct interviews with claimants and employers to collect pertinent information and make impartial, evidence-supported decisions.
• Oversee all claims in line with client-specific service standards and ensure that documentation is both accurate and timely.
• Leverage available resources to evaluate diagnoses and treatment plans, engaging professionally with physicians, employers, insurance entities, and legal representatives.
• Compose and send written communications summarizing claim activities, decisions, and subsequent steps.
• Engage in case conference calls with employers and internal team members.
• Work collaboratively with the Rehabilitation Coordinator to reduce absence duration and facilitate return-to-work strategies.
• Uphold strict confidentiality concerning client, corporate, and medical information.
• A minimum of 5 years of claims experience in a group insurance or similar environment.
• At least 3 years of experience in adjudicating Long Term Disability claims.
• A post-secondary degree or diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and language pertaining to disability contracts.
• Professional designations such as CEBS, CIP, or LOMA are preferred.
• A background in a health-related field (e.g., Occupational Therapy, Kinesiology, Nursing, Physiotherapy).
