Network Support Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Indonesia.

📋 Description

• Create new functionalities and enhance existing code for VyOS, ensuring implementations are both efficient and maintainable.

• Partner with developers to assess and validate code modifications, test feature implementations, and offer feedback on bugs, optimizations, and feature suggestions.

• Produce technical documentation, including solution briefs, datasheets, and visual materials, specifically designed to address various networking scenarios and technical needs.

• Design, deploy, and configure network infrastructures utilizing VyOS and other networking devices to fulfill project goals and performance criteria.

• Develop and implement Proof of Concept (PoC) scenarios using VyOS, documenting configuration setups, performance metrics, and solution feasibility tailored to customer requirements.

• Identify and resolve network performance, security, and connectivity challenges, employing advanced debugging and analytical tools.

• Investigate escalated technical problems, perform root cause analysis, and provide replicable solutions or comprehensive technical reports for development resolution.

• Execute functional, performance, and regression testing for VyOS features and fixes, maintaining thorough test documentation.

• Create and oversee automated testing frameworks for repetitive test scenarios, boosting testing precision and efficiency.

• Refine testing methodologies by integrating advanced tools and frameworks to enhance validation processes and results.

• Conduct interoperability testing with third-party systems to guarantee the seamless integration of VyOS across various networking settings.

• Sustain a centralized knowledge repository with detailed, technically accurate articles and solution documentation to assist both internal and external stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Comprehensive understanding of networking protocols including BGP, OSPF, VPNs, and firewalls.

• Practical experience with VyOS or other open-source networking platforms.

• Proficient in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation and testing purposes.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills within complex network environments.

• Knowledge of network performance optimization and security best practices.

• Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) and cloud networking concepts.

• Capability to develop and implement test cases for network functionality and performance.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and teamwork.

• Strong aptitude for analyzing packet captures, system logs, and debugging outputs.

• Conversational proficiency in Japanese.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in networking, system administration, or network security.

• Experience working with VyOS, open-source network operating systems, or enterprise-level networking solutions.

• Previous experience in feature validation, troubleshooting, and debugging network-related issues.

• Practical experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V) and cloud networking (AWS, GCP, Azure).

• Experience in conducting Proof of Concept (PoC) demonstrations and documenting technical insights.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks for networking products.
