Network Support Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cyprus.

📋 Description

• Create new features and enhance existing code for VyOS, ensuring implementations are efficient and maintainable.

• Work alongside developers to review and validate code modifications, test feature deployments, and offer feedback on bugs, optimizations, and feature suggestions.

• Develop technical materials, such as solution briefs, datasheets, and graphical content, specifically designed to meet various networking use cases and technical specifications.

• Design, implement, and configure network infrastructures utilizing VyOS and other networking devices to achieve project goals and performance benchmarks.

• Create and deploy Proof of Concept (PoC) scenarios with VyOS, documenting configuration settings, performance metrics, and solution feasibility tailored to customer needs.

• Identify and resolve network performance, security, and connectivity problems, using advanced debugging and analytical tools.

• Address escalated technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide reproducible solutions or comprehensive technical reports for resolution by the development team.

• Carry out functional, performance, and regression testing for VyOS features and fixes, ensuring detailed test documentation is created and maintained.

• Build and manage automated testing frameworks for repetitive test scenarios, improving accuracy and efficiency in testing processes.

• Improve testing methodologies by integrating advanced tools and frameworks to enhance validation processes and results.

• Perform interoperability testing with third-party systems to guarantee smooth integration of VyOS in various networking settings.

• Maintain a centralized repository of knowledge with precise, technically accurate articles and solution documentation to assist both internal and external stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• In-depth understanding of networking protocols, including BGP, OSPF, VPNs, and firewalls.

• Practical experience with VyOS or other open-source networking platforms.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation and testing purposes.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in intricate network environments.

• Experience in network performance optimization and adherence to security best practices.

• Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) and cloud networking concepts.

• Capability to create and execute test cases for evaluating network functionality and performance.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and teamwork.

• Strong aptitude for analyzing packet captures, system logs, and debugging outputs.
