Network Engineer – Mid-level

📋 Description

• Diagnose and resolve network-related issues, delivering technical assistance to end-users and fellow IT personnel.

• Create and maintain documentation for network solutions, configurations, procedures, and policies.

• Plan and implement network and virtualization projects, ensuring timely completion while adhering to budgetary and quality standards.

• Accountable for troubleshooting network incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and documenting findings in the ticketing system (ServiceNow) and knowledge repositories (MS SharePoint).

• Available to work nighttime shifts for network Change Request (CR) implementations and participate in the on-call rotation for escalated network incidents from the Network Operations Security Center (NOSC) during nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Build strong working relationships with industry vendors to ensure alignment with current and future requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• BA / BS in a relevant field; applicable IT experience may substitute for formal education.

• A minimum of 4 years of dedicated network engineering experience.

• Extensive knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) and network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, GRE, IPSEC, and VRF).

• Proficient in creating and writing design documentation, diagrams, and other project deliverables.

• Must possess the ability to navigate a complex and rapidly evolving network environment.

• Residency within the national capital area (DC, NOVA, MD) is required, within approximately 50 miles.

• Excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken, to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.

• Successful completion of pre-employment screenings, including federal background checks, MVR, and drug tests.

• Adhere to the company's drug and alcohol policy.

• Must be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the start date of the successful candidate.

• Desired certifications include Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CCNPE, Security+, with experience in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams) and creating network diagrams in MS Visio.
