Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Oversee solution delivery processes, which include remote deployment assistance, network migrations, and acceptance testing.

• Assist partner engineers during deployments and serve as a point of escalation for technical inquiries.

• Review and confirm the content of Technical Deployment Packages in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

• Work together with Sales Engineers, Project Managers, Technical Support, and Field Service teams to address design or product-related challenges.

• Keep thorough as-built documentation for future upgrades and reference purposes.

• Take part in customer kick-off meetings.

• Provide guidance to pre-sales teams to ensure network design complies with serviceability standards.

• Implement network solutions and offer post-sales technical assistance.

• Facilitate smooth deployment, reconfiguration, and continuous enhancement of Ciena solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience in a network engineering or a similar technical role.

• Fundamental theoretical and/or practical understanding of Layer 0/1, encompassing SDH, DWDM, ROADM, and Control Plane.

• Familiarity with Layer 2-3 and IP protocols.

• Knowledge of scripting or DevOps tools, such as Python, Java, or Ansible.

• Proficiency in German (native level) and English (both written and verbal).

• Competence in MS Office applications, including Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Capability to manage several projects, analyze technical data, and convert designs into deployable solutions.

• Willingness and adaptability to travel around 25% of the time.

• Availability to support night-time maintenance windows about 25% of the time.

• Experience working collaboratively within matrixed teams across engineering, support, and field operations.

• Excellent documentation and process development abilities.
