This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +1 more state.
• Assist in a comprehensive application modernization project aimed at transitioning enterprise applications from .NET Framework to .NET Core/.NET 8+
• Perform the majority of application conversion, remediation, testing, and documentation tasks across the portfolio
• Collaborate closely with the Senior .NET Application Modernization Consultant (Pod Lead)
• Apply established migration strategies to ensure successful modernization results
• Migrate application code from .NET Framework to .NET Core/.NET 8+ using approved modernization techniques and tools
• Conduct application modernization tasks utilizing AWS and Microsoft migration tools
• Address compatible and upgradeable NuGet package dependencies
• Transform and update T4 templates as instructed by technical leadership
• Implement contemporary dependency injection and configuration management patterns
• Follow modernization standards, coding practices, and architectural guidelines set by the Pod Lead
• Conduct confidence testing and verify functional equivalence against established acceptance criteria
• Diagnose and resolve migration-related defects and compatibility challenges
• Document modernization choices, implementation strategies, and technical discoveries
• Contribute to migration runbooks, knowledge-sharing resources, and project documentation
• Work collaboratively with architects, senior consultants, QA personnel, and project leadership to ensure successful delivery
• Extensive experience in developing applications using C# and the .NET Framework
• Practical experience with .NET Core and/or .NET 6/7/8
• Background in application modernization, migration, or upgrade initiatives
• Familiarity with: ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Web API, ASP.NET Core, Dependency Injection patterns, and modern configuration management techniques
• Experience in updating and maintaining NuGet package dependencies
• Knowledge of project conversion concepts, including SDK-style project formats, PackageReference, and modern .NET build processes
• Experience with Git-based source control workflows
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging abilities
• Capacity to validate functionality and support confidence testing efforts
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Important screening requirements due to client and clearance stipulations
• Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card holders)
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
• Required to undergo fingerprinting as part of the onboarding procedure
• Must successfully complete a government background investigation (CJIS-type clearance)
