Multimedia Editor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Maintain the website by updating it with revised content to engage readers and attract new audiences.

• Work shifts beginning at either 1 p.m. or 11 a.m. daily, with the possibility of weekend shifts.

• Assist in refining digital strategies focused on SEO, social media, breaking news alerts, and user-generated content.

• Collaborate with late-day multimedia journalists to ensure that assignments fulfill breaking content requirements.

• Identify opportunities for innovative explainers and live coverage.

• Contribute to the development of ambitious journalism initiatives while achieving or surpassing website performance goals.

• Participate in meetings with editors to strategize and implement content.

• Help create the newsroom’s regular reader newsletters.

• Collaborate with the digital team, field reporters, assistant news editor (digital), city desk, and deputy editor.

• Proven experience in daily digital journalism and editing, or a strong ability to learn quickly.

• Proficient in digital and social media platforms.

• Enthusiastic about working under the fast-paced deadlines typical of a newsroom environment.

• Competent journalist and effective communicator.

• Ability to swiftly adapt to changing news demands and evolving situations that require agility and flexibility.

• Knowledgeable about industry content, style, and legal standards, including libel and defamation laws.
