Mobile Vehicle Condition Inspector

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Perform comprehensive on-site inspections of vehicle conditions for dealer clients within a designated territory.

• Find, start, move, inspect, and safely return vehicles located on dealer client lots.

• Confirm vehicle identification, VINs, mileage, sub-series, and options; accurately input data into systems.

• Examine and document the condition of the vehicle's exterior and interior, including tires, frame, glass, panels, mechanical components, seating, dashboard, and installed options.

• Conduct basic mechanical checks across powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components.

• Identify and record any damage, missing components, and features that are non-operational.

• Foster trust with dealer clients through consistent quality, professionalism, and responsiveness.

• Educate clients about the Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services.

• Engage with dealers to boost inspection volume and maintain active participation.

• Utilize data, insights, and partner feedback to enhance inspection efficiency and productivity within the territory.

• Adjust to changing appointments and schedules to ensure dealer coverage is maintained.

• Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports.

• Utilize Salesforce.com for reporting, lead management, and tracking customer performance.

• Work collaboratively with Wholesale Specialists, colleagues, and other Manheim teams.

• Contribute to process improvements in a continuous enhancement and Lean environment.

• Meet production expectations while adhering to safety and health procedures.

• Participate in Safety Excellence initiatives.

• Adhere to Manheim inspection standards, including the NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Depending on the level, conduct basic, detailed, complex, or advanced inspections; mentor peers and assist with the onboarding and development of less experienced inspectors.

⛳️ Requirements

• Reside in New Jersey.

• High School Diploma or GED is required for Level 1.

• Level 2: High School Diploma or GED plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of degree/certification beyond high school and 5 years of relevant experience.

• Senior Level: High School Diploma/GED plus at least 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of degree/certification beyond high school and 3 years of experience, or 7 years of relevant experience.

• Minimal automotive knowledge preferred for Level 1.

• 0–1 years of automotive-related experience preferred for Level 1.

• 1–2 years of automotive-related experience preferred for Level 2.

• Previous vehicle inspection experience is required for Senior Level.

• Strong automotive knowledge, including body and mechanical, is essential for Senior Level.

• 2–3 years of automotive-related experience is strongly preferred for Senior Level.

• At least 1 year of service with Manheim Inspections is recommended for Senior Level.

• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.

• Ability to fulfill the physical and mental demands of the position within the required timeframes.

• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship.
