This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pakistan.
• Take ownership of and enhance the technical foundation of our mobile banking application.
• Guide, mentor, and provide technical leadership to the mobile platform team.
• Establish, implement, and maintain engineering standards in areas including mobile security, observability, performance, resilience, and release quality.
• Serve as a hands-on technical leader in developing and maintaining shared mobile platform capabilities using React Native and TypeScript.
• Contribute to architectural decisions involving React Native, native modules, and integrations with Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C, and Java.
• Lead enhancements to CI/CD pipelines, ensuring build reliability, efficient release workflows, and effective deployment processes.
• Oversee mobile platform-level observability and crash reporting, incorporating tools for logging, analytics, exception monitoring, and production stability.
• Collaborate with product feature teams to facilitate smooth releases that meet quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
• Promote advancements in automated testing practices, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing methodologies that bolster release quality confidence.
• Manage production incident responses and release activities, ensuring prompt resolution, clear communication, and strong operational oversight.
• Work closely with design and product teams to develop and maintain shared UI components, platform standards, and mobile design system capabilities.
• Encourage the adoption of new tools, processes, and standards across product teams through mentoring, documentation, and training.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance platform stability, developer productivity, and the long-term maintainability of the mobile application estate.
• Advocate for secure application development practices and support compliance-oriented delivery within a regulated banking environment.
• Assess tooling advancements where applicable, including potential future considerations such as transitioning to Expo.
• 8+ years of experience in mobile engineering, with considerable time spent in roles such as Tech Lead, Mobile Platform Lead, Staff, or Principal Engineer.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in building and maintaining mobile applications using React Native and TypeScript, which forms the core of the technology stack.
• 4+ years of experience with native mobile development (Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C, or Java) essential for maintaining and supporting existing native libraries.
• Lead and enhance CI/CD pipelines, ensuring build reliability, release processes, deployment workflows, and broader developer workflows—an essential requirement for this role.
• Strong comprehension of mobile architecture, including React Native bridges, native modules, and platform-level architectural decisions.
• Experience in managing or significantly improving mobile platform observability, crash reporting (e.g., Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, Datadog), exception monitoring, and handling production incidents.
• Extensive experience with mobile testing methodologies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing (e.g., Detox, Appium, Jest) to enhance release confidence.
• Solid understanding of engineering standards in mobile performance, resilience, reliability, and quality.
• 1+ year of experience leading a mobile platform team, with demonstrated accountability for technical direction, mentoring, and engineering standards.
• Proven track record of understanding product team needs and prioritizing platform work to eliminate blockers and expedite product delivery.
• Demonstrated capability to promote the adoption of new tools and processes across teams through documentation, training, and hands-on mentorship, rather than merely defining standards.
• Experience in setting and maintaining a high standard for a mobile codebase while balancing the ongoing trade-off between standards and team velocity.
• Strong collaborative skills across engineering, product, design, and, when necessary, compliance and regulatory stakeholders.
• Prior experience leading at least one major technical or platform project from start to finish.
• Experience in managing or directly leading engineers with a people-first approach to technical leadership.
