This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Deploy, operate, and maintain USV platforms and associated systems as the primary focus, while providing secondary support for UAS, UUV, and UGV platforms as mission opportunities arise.
• Assist in mission execution that involves both autonomous and semi-autonomous systems.
• Configure, operate, and troubleshoot autonomy software under real-time operational conditions.
• Conduct vessel pre-deployment checks, systems integration, waterside launch and recovery operations, and post-mission analysis.
• Maintain and repair USV hulls, propulsion systems, payloads, and supporting waterside ground equipment.
• Operate systems in various environments, including open-water, near-shore, and harbor conditions, even in scenarios with limited communications, adverse weather, or minimal support infrastructure.
• Ensure all waterside operations comply with COLREGS, relevant USCG regulations, and the requirements of local port or waterway authorities.
• Provide comprehensive operational feedback to engineering teams to enhance system performance and reliability.
• Assist in business development efforts, demonstrations, customer evaluations, training events, and deployments.
• Travel to test sites, customer locations, and operational environments as needed.
• Represent ASR in a professional manner with customers, partners, and government stakeholders.
• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in operating, deploying, or maintaining unmanned surface vehicles (USV), small crewed vessels, or other marine platforms in operational settings.
• Proficient understanding of COLREGS (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea) and U.S. Inland Navigation Rules.
• Proven experience operating in open-water, coastal, or harbor environments, with a keen awareness of tides, currents, sea state, and maritime hazards.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, or systems troubleshooting abilities.
• Proficiency in VHF marine radio, including knowledge of DSC (Digital Selective Calling) emergency procedures.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Capacity to remain calm and effective under operational pressure.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently, sometimes with little notice.
