This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +11 more states.
• Act as the main point of contact for all State Party Chairs, Vice Chairs, and Executive Directors within the assigned region.
• Provide support and coaching to State Leadership teams in setting and achieving ambitious objectives.
• Oversee all communications with State Parties, which includes conducting regular state check-ins, managing requests for support, preparing briefings and background materials, organizing regional online meetings, dispatching travel notifications, and informing about programs and partnership opportunities, as well as fostering robust two-way communication between State Parties and the ASDC.
• Participate in all meetings, briefings, and planning sessions related to State Parties. Notably, the ASDC organizes a minimum of four meetings annually across the country for state parties to convene for training and business discussions, with Regional Directors assisting in meeting preparations.
• Collaborate with State Parties to manage requests for surrogates, applicable to both virtual and in-person events, in addition to email communications, letters, social media posts, etc.
• Travel to states within the region to support State Parties with strategic assessments and planning, fundraisers, conventions, training, key meetings, elections, and other events as required, which may include electoral deployments in the final weeks of a cycle.
• Implement national strategic objectives within their designated states and advocate for state interests in national discussions.
• Assist with the joint ASDC/DNC training program by advising on training priorities, contributing to curriculum development, and facilitating in-state and regional training sessions.
• Collaborate closely with all DNC departments to enhance State Party support while briefing departments on State Party activities, needs, and opportunities—such as working with the DNC Tech Team on voter file updates and coordinating with Communications and Research to highlight Administration programs and achievements.
• Partner with the ASDC Executive Director and the DNC Political Department to manage the State Party Partnership (SPP) program, which includes conducting regular State Party check-ins, suggesting opportunities for DNC support in strengthening state core infrastructure, creating state-specific assessments and plans, and monitoring progress on essential deliverables.
• Work in conjunction with all pertinent DNC departments during the planning and development of all national programs that involve or depend on State Parties.
• Undertake any additional tasks assigned by the Executive Director.
• A minimum of five years of experience working at the state and/or national level in a campaign or state party, with a strong preference for state party engagement.
• Exceptional interpersonal abilities, including a talent for rapidly establishing and sustaining strong relationships, alongside a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
• Clear and effective oral and written communication skills, coupled with strong attention to detail.
• Outstanding judgment, both politically and practically.
• Proven capacity to navigate conflicts and work towards resolutions.
• Extensive experience in developing and leveraging political relationships.
• In-depth knowledge of and experience with organizing.
• A collaborative leadership and management style that empowers others.
• Familiarity with all aspects of a successful statewide campaign.
• Capability to work within a team and manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
