Mid/Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Develop and create backend services for the issuance and management of corporate cards, encompassing user roles and permissions.

• Connect with core banking institutions, AML systems, and SWIFT to facilitate dependable and compliant payment processes (SEPA, SWIFT, payouts to cards).

• Review third-party documentation and convert it into detailed integration and architectural strategies.

• Engage in product decision-making throughout the entire development lifecycle — from RFC and PRD to production deployment.

• Enhance system performance, scalability, and observability utilizing tools such as Kafka, tRPC/Connect RPC, Loki, and VictoriaMetrics.

• Maintain high quality standards: implement unit and functional testing, adhere to security best practices, and contribute to automated CI/CD pipelines.

• Collaborate on a daily basis with design, finance, and platform teams to deliver a seamless end-to-end user experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of backend development experience utilizing Node.js and TypeScript.

• Proficient in SQL, specifically PostgreSQL or MySQL.

• Experience in writing unit and functional tests (Jest, Cypress, Vitest, or similar tools).

• Background in constructing or integrating complex systems.

• Naturally proactive: you identify issues early, suggest solutions, and ensure implementation.

• Capable of taking ownership of a feature from inception to production without the need for guidance.

• Strong communicator: able to articulate technical decisions and justify your choices effectively.

• Business-oriented: you focus on creating value through your work, rather than merely delivering code.

• Preferred: Familiarity with event-driven systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS, experience in fintech, crypto, or payment system integrations, hands-on experience with Docker, AWS, GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions, Terraform, and knowledge of API security and vulnerability patterns.
