Middle School English Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Deliver designated course material in a virtual setting

• Offer instruction, assistance, and guidance to students

• Oversee the learning process while concentrating on each student’s unique needs

• Track student progress using Stride K12’s learning management platform

• Collaborate closely with students and their parents/learning coaches to promote learning towards set objectives

• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous educational experiences

• Customize learning experiences for all students

• Tailor instruction based on student mastery levels

• Enhance course content utilizing both asynchronous and synchronous tools under the direction of the principal and coach

• Maintain the grade book and uphold academic integrity for students

• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion

• Notify administrators about concerns regarding student performance and progress

• Prepare students for important standardized assessments

• Build and sustain positive relationships with families

• Communicate and respond promptly to students and learning coaches/parents

• Assist learning coaches/parents with curriculum and instructional issues as well as basic virtual classroom troubleshooting

• Travel for professional development, student assessments, and other school obligations

⛳️ Requirements

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certification is required

• Middle school English certification is mandatory

• Must be a resident of Michigan

• Bachelor's degree required

• Active state teaching license is necessary

• Must be able to pass a required background check

• Capability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week

• Ability to sustain a professional home office free from distractions during working hours

• Willingness to travel as needed, averaging once a month and/or approximately 20% of the time

• Experience working with the specified age group

• Proven experience assisting both adults and children with technology usage

• Background in teaching in online and/or traditional classroom settings

• Familiarity with online learning platforms

• Skill in interpreting and generating numerical, tabular, and graphical representations of student data

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms

• Commitment to maintaining teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
