This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• The Middle School (Grades 6-8) Counselor is tasked with developing programs that foster both the academic and social growth of students in these grades.
• Address students’ academic and social/emotional needs through interventions that are suitable for their developmental stage.
• Evaluate student abilities, interests, and achievements to assist them in making informed decisions about their future and to guide them in preparations for upper school.
• Communicate proactively and responsively with students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators using email, phone, video conferencing, and other communication tools provided by LSS.
• Build collaborative relationships with middle school teachers and advisors to provide comprehensive support for all students.
• Conduct live monthly webinars for students and guardians that emphasize the support of students’ academic, career, and social/emotional development.
• Develop and execute group counseling sessions tailored to meet student needs as identified through data.
• Assist individual students with their academic, social/emotional, and college/career requirements through one-on-one meetings.
• Work closely with K-5 and College Counselors to help create a vertically aligned, comprehensive school counseling program, playing a vital role in transition programming that facilitates successful transitions both into and out of middle school.
• Encourage enrollment by actively participating in virtual open houses and re-enrollment discussions.
• Utilize data to determine programming priorities and assess effectiveness.
• Produce meaningful communications, such as newsletters, addressing the specific needs of the student population on a regular basis.
• Engage collaboratively and professionally in school-wide meetings, events, communications, and activities, both online and in-person, which may include required evening virtual events.
• Participate in ongoing professional development (both internal and external), practice self-assessment, and pursue continuous improvement.
• Uphold confidentiality regarding students, families, and staff, as well as LSS management and operations.
• Perform additional counseling-related duties as assigned.
• Master’s degree.
• Active School Counseling certification with a commitment to adhering to state and local regulations regarding background checks and credentials.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in counseling or working within a school environment, specifically supporting middle school students.
• Proven experience in implementing group programs with measurable objectives.
• Proficient in word processing, productivity, communication, and educational technology tools; expertise in G-Suite, Learning Management Systems, and Student Information Systems is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical, interpretive, evaluative, and constructive thinking skills, along with excellent organizational abilities.
• Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Access to reliable, high-quality internet and a quiet workspace that enables the counselor to be fully engaged with students, parents, and colleagues during work hours (Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM - 5 PM ET).
