This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Propel profitable growth and enhance agency collaborations across Ohio.

• Act as a reliable partner to independent agencies, balancing effective underwriting judgment with relationship management and business development.

• Spot growth opportunities, assess complex commercial risks, and bolster our position in a territory essential to our long-term success.

• Collaborate closely with our Territory Sales Managers to assist agencies in placing profitable business with Hastings while providing underwriting expertise and responsiveness.

• Cultivate and enhance relationships with independent agency partners throughout Ohio.

• Recognize opportunities to expand Hastings' Middle Market Commercial portfolio by partnering with agencies to secure profitable new business.

• Conduct agency visits and represent Hastings in the field within the designated territory.

• Review, assess, and underwrite new and renewal middle market commercial business in line with underwriting guidelines and authority levels.

• Analyze commercial risks, exposures, pricing, and coverage requirements to support prudent underwriting decisions.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting, ideally within Middle Market business segments.

• Proven success in evaluating commercial risks and making informed underwriting decisions across various industries and exposures.

• Established ability to build, maintain, and expand relationships with independent agency partners.

• Demonstrated capacity to identify new business opportunities and contribute to profitable commercial growth.

• Experience in balancing business development goals with disciplined risk selection and profitability objectives.

• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Preferred: AU, CPCU, or other industry designations.

• Strong understanding of commercial insurance products, coverages, pricing, and underwriting principles.

• Proficiency in underwriting systems, agency management tools, and Microsoft Office applications.

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly within the assigned territory.
