Mid-level QA Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated testing scripts utilizing Playwright with TypeScript.

• Contribute to the robustness and scalability of the test automation framework.

• Incorporate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

• Validate RESTful APIs and backend services.

• Design and implement API test cases that encompass authentication, error handling, and edge scenarios.

• Conduct both manual and automated testing across web and mobile platforms.

• Assess application functionality, performance, usability, and reliability.

• Ensure comprehensive test coverage for new features and regression testing.

• Log, categorize, and verify defects using Jira.

• Engage in Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.

• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and stakeholders on quality objectives, acceptance criteria, and timelines.

• Utilize Git or equivalent version control systems for managing test scripts.

• Maintain QA documentation, test cases, and test plans in TestRail, Confluence, or similar platforms.

• Offer constructive feedback during code reviews and sprint demonstrations.

• Enhance testing methodologies and overall product quality.

• Share knowledge and mentor junior QA engineers as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of practical QA experience.

• Proficient in both manual and automated testing methodologies.

• Strong expertise in Playwright and TypeScript for test automation.

• Experience in testing web and mobile applications.

• Skilled in API testing using Postman, Playwright API testing, or similar tools.

• Knowledgeable about RESTful APIs and backend services.

• Experience with regression, smoke, integration, and exploratory testing.

• Familiarity with logging and tracking defects in Jira.

• Proven experience in integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.

• Proficient with Git or similar version control systems.

• Understanding of branching strategies and shared codebases.

• Experience in maintaining test cases, test plans, and QA documentation.

• Familiar with TestRail, Confluence, or similar tools.

• A fibre-ready home environment suitable for confidential and comfortable work.

• Must reside in South Africa; working from outside the country is not allowed.

• A minimum 100/100 Mbps fibre line, installed or upgraded by the first day.

• Some positions may require a clear credit history.
