This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct analysis, design, programming, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of systems that support Point-of-Sale and Batch processes utilizing Microfocus Cobol, CICS, Oracle, and JCL.
• Review RFP documentation, collaborate with relevant team members or clients, assess software factors, assist in proposal efforts, and produce design documentation and estimates that align with business needs.
• Develop and unit test software solutions accurately and thoroughly to fulfill client expectations.
• Create testing recommendations for more comprehensive evaluations of modifications.
• Enhance existing COBOL programs for improved performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Provide on-call support as required.
• Conduct impact analysis and root-cause investigations for production issues.
• Address any emerging issues promptly to avert system outages.
• Investigate, resolve, and document assigned issues and propose or implement solutions.
• Assist in discussions with clients and clarify issues and recommended solutions.
• Help prepare functional specifications for application systems and present system requirements and designs to client personnel.
• Produce weekly status reports on development activities for relevant management.
• Proficient in working with MICROFOCUS COBOL (preferably in a LINUX environment) — including experience with CICS, JCL, and ORACLE, along with extensive knowledge of the healthcare industry and PBM.
• Possess a broad understanding of system engineering/automation concepts, practices, and procedures, and is expected to perform tasks related to analysis, design, programming, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of a Point-of-Sale application.
• A minimum of eight (8) years of COBOL experience and 5+ years in the PBM domain.
• A blend of mainframe programming expertise and a comprehensive understanding of pharmacy benefit management workflows — including claims adjudication, prior authorization, formulary processing, and NCPDP transaction standards.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, as the candidate will need to interact with business users to gather and comprehend business requirements.
• Ability to diagnose issues and recommend solutions with minimal supervision.
