Microelectronics Systems Integration Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design and implementation of ultra-pure water (UPW), wastewater management, water recycling, and associated utility systems for semiconductor and advanced manufacturing environments.

• Provide technical guidance throughout project phases including planning, system integration, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and optimization of operations.

• Create and enforce semiconductor-specific standards, commissioning documentation, and execution methods to enhance project consistency and efficiency.

• Partner with engineering, operations, construction, and end-user teams to ensure that systems are designed for efficiency, maintainability, reliability, safety, and scalability.

• Assess facility and utility configurations to propose enhancements that improve operational accessibility, maintenance strategies, constructability, and overall system performance.

• Act as a technical expert for semiconductor manufacturing needs, assisting internal teams in understanding industry standards, design philosophies, operational drivers, and essential utility performance requirements.

• Support factory and utility startup processes, including system turnover, operational readiness, functional testing, performance validation, and ramp support.

• Help identify technology gaps, execution risks, and opportunities for process improvements related to semiconductor water and wastewater systems.

• Engage in creating technical training materials and educational sessions for both internal staff and external clients.

• Collaborate with clients, equipment suppliers, integrators, and project stakeholders to synchronize technical requirements, operational goals, and project execution strategies.

• Contribute to gathering lessons learned, best practices, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance Aquatech’s long-term capabilities in microelectronics.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in semiconductor, microelectronics, pharmaceutical, or other high-purity industrial settings with direct involvement in ultra-pure water (UPW), wastewater management, water recycling, or related utility systems.

• Strong technical knowledge of UPW process technologies such as reverse osmosis (RO), electrodialysis (EDI), ion exchange (IX), degasification, filtration, UV treatment, total organic carbon (TOC) removal, and distribution systems.

• Proven ability to interpret and analyze process flow diagrams (PFDs), general arrangements (GAs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and layout designs.

• Excellent communication skills with the capability to collaborate effectively across different teams and with customers.

• Demonstrated experience in the integration, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and operation of sophisticated industrial water and wastewater treatment systems.

• Strong understanding of semiconductor facility infrastructure, utility reliability standards, and operational expectations.

• Practical knowledge of semiconductor water treatment technologies, including but not limited to reverse osmosis (RO), ion exchange, EDI, degasification, UV oxidation, filtration, reclaim systems, wastewater treatment, and chemical management systems.

• Experience in reviewing or influencing facility and utility designs with a focus on efficiency, maintenance access, constructability, safety, and long-term reliability.

• Extensive experience with commissioning, startup, system turnover, functional testing, and operational readiness for semiconductor or advanced manufacturing facilities.

• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams including engineering, operations, construction, procurement, controls, and end users.

• Strong technical communication and presentation skills with the ability to train internal teams and clients on semiconductor industry requirements and best practices.

• Proven problem-solving abilities with the capacity to assess complex operational issues and devise practical solutions.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to facilitate project execution, factory startup, customer interactions, and site activities as needed.

• Experience in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or advanced manufacturing project delivery environments is highly advantageous.

• Previous experience working directly with or for semiconductor manufacturers is strongly preferred.
