This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Identify and source software firms that align with our acquisition standards and key performance metrics.
• Develop and implement focused outreach initiatives through email and outbound calls, consistently testing innovative business development approaches while engaging with a significant volume of deal opportunities.
• Establish and nurture relationships with potential acquisition candidates and sell-side investment banks that specialize in mergers and acquisitions.
• Conduct preliminary assessments of potential acquisitions, which include initial operational and financial evaluations, as well as an analysis of opportunities and risks.
• Manage and propel a comprehensive deal pipeline, ensuring it remains updated as new targets and information arise, while collaborating with a driven, entrepreneurial, and high-performing team.
• Execute sector analyses and market research to identify trends and discover new acquisition prospects.
• Review and assess investment materials, condensing large amounts of data into clear, concise, and actionable analyses, presentations, and recommendations.
• Independently advance acquisition opportunities by defining transaction scope and maintaining progress throughout the process, gaining exposure to the entire transaction lifecycle from sourcing to execution.
• Effectively prioritize and delegate tasks based on transaction timelines and strategic significance.
• Provide ad hoc analytical and operational support to the wider team as required.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to assist with data requests, due diligence, internal alignment, and successful transaction execution.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or corporate development is required.
• Prior experience with M&A transactions in the software industry is crucial.
• Strong academic performance from a leading institution.
• An undergraduate degree in business administration or a related field is advantageous.
• Professional maturity with the ability to interact comfortably with C-level executives.
• Highly proactive, independent, and self-motivated, with exceptional sales and communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities and demonstrated potential for leadership.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial modeling.
• Good grasp of software business models and the M&A transaction lifecycle.
• Strong analytical capabilities, a sharp sense for detecting trends, and advanced proficiency in Excel.
