This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Design and develop the build, CI/CD, and tooling infrastructure that Poolside's researchers and engineers depend on daily.
• Become a part of our infrastructure team as the second engineer dedicated to enhancing developer experience.
• Collaborate closely with the current owner of this area while sharing on-call duties, incident response, and platform responsibilities with the broader team.
• Optimize our monorepo for speed, ensure our builds are reproducible, and maintain a coherent Python ecosystem by leveraging automation to amplify your impact across all teams at Poolside.
• Assume significant responsibility for our build and CI/CD systems, supported by a well-established infrastructure team.
• Create tools and solutions designed to enhance the efficiency of our engineering teams.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Bazel — including writing and maintaining rules, macros, and toolchains.
• Understanding of remote caching and build optimizations.
• Proven experience in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines, preferably with Buildkite.
• Proficient in dynamic pipelines, agent fleet management, and build-time optimization.
• Strong proficiency in Python, covering packaging, dependency management (uv/pip/Poetry), and virtual environments.
• Experience integrating Python and ML/research codebases into a monorepo build system.
• Proficient in Go.
• Experience in writing backend services.
• Familiarity with developing CLI applications and internal developer tools.
• Expertise in debugging issues on Linux, including network and process-related challenges.
• Experience with containerization using Kubernetes.
• Familiar with both managed and self-hosted Kubernetes environments.
• Knowledge of AWS services.
• Comfortable managing IAM policies and ensuring appropriate permission settings.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform or OpenTofu for managing complex AWS environments.
• Skilled in observability and monitoring tools and practices.
• Experienced in incident response protocols and best practices.
• Comfortable collaborating within a larger infrastructure team — sharing on-call responsibilities, contributing to incident responses, and building tools that other engineers rely on.
