This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Provide support to a healthcare practice by handling prior authorizations, referrals, patient communications, medication refills, insurance verification, and administrative coordination.
• Submit, monitor, and follow up on insurance authorization requests.
• Liaise with insurance companies regarding approvals, denials, and necessary documentation.
• Review authorization criteria and ensure all supporting documentation is submitted.
• Track pending authorizations and offer status updates to providers and staff.
• Process and dispatch referrals to specialists and healthcare facilities.
• Organize referral documentation and follow-up actions.
• Ensure referrals are executed accurately and promptly.
• Communicate with specialty offices about referral status and scheduling.
• Professionally answer incoming patient calls.
• Return patient calls and follow up on inquiries.
• Assist patients with appointment-related issues and clinical requests.
• Process electronic requests for medication refills.
• Schedule and reschedule patient appointments as needed.
• Send appointment reminders through phone and text.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients.
• Assist with inquiries and documentation related to insurance.
• Send and receive necessary faxes and clinical documents.
• Monitor KPIs for the timely completion of prior authorizations and referrals, maintain reliable availability during business hours, and ensure efficient turnaround time for insurance and referral requests.
• Must possess a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Assistant (MA) designation.
• Previous experience in healthcare or clinical settings is required.
• Experience with prior authorizations is essential.
• Familiarity with referrals and insurance verification is mandatory.
• Experience in handling medication refills is preferred.
• Previous experience as a virtual assistant is a plus.
• Knowledge of HIPAA training and compliance is required.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare workflows is necessary.
• Experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare environment is important.
• Knowledge of insurance authorization and referral processes is beneficial.
• Understanding medication refill procedures is advantageous.
• College degree with significant healthcare experience is preferred.
• Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
• Relevant work experience is essential.
• Ability to provide an NBI clearance and/or Local Police Clearance background check prior to onboarding is mandatory.
• Availability for video meetings with the camera on (when required) is necessary.
• Device: Reliable laptop or desktop computer is required.
• Internet: High-speed connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps is needed.
• Audio: Noise-canceling headset is required.
• Video: Webcam for virtual meetings is necessary.
• Workspace: A quiet, professional environment is essential.
