This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
β’ Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments and/or consultations; record no-show information; prepare for clinic visits; and oversee appointments and consultations.
β’ Offer general reception assistance in the Release of Information (ROI) offices at various healthcare facilities.
β’ Scan insurance cards, safeguard secure information, and complete all required insurance buffer (ICB) encounters.
β’ Digitally scan records and documents into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to support Health Information Management (HIM) functions at medical centers.
β’ Handle outgoing and incoming phone calls.
β’ Assess requests for reimbursement of travel expenses and reconcile claims/vouchers for payments using electronic systems.
β’ Evaluate ambulance claims for eligibility and payment.
β’ Assist in coordinating transportation for eligible patients and collaborate with clinical teams to determine the appropriate mode of transportation.
β’ Must be a citizen of the United States of America.
β’ Ability to communicate clearly in spoken and written English.
β’ Proficient in using computer programs, typically involving spreadsheets, word processing, etc.; must log in and type at a speed of 40-50 words per minute with minimal errors.
β’ Extensive use of phones and computers, often at the same time.
β’ Knowledge of medical and hospital terminology, as well as clinic operations.
β’ Technically skilled to meet government requirements; training will be provided by SFVAHS on appointment management, VA policies, and procedures.
β’ A minimum of six months of experience in clerical, office, customer service, or other administrative roles that demonstrate the ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for the position.
β’ Applicants may substitute one year of education beyond high school to meet qualifications.
β’ One year of education beyond high school or one to two years of relevant job experience is required.
β’ A combination of experience and education may qualify for an entry-level position where both education and experience are acceptable.
β’ Must be able to pass a required level of security clearance (NACI-level background check).
