Medical Science Liaison, Cardiovascular

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Establish and cultivate professional relationships with healthcare providers, medical experts, nurses, pharmacists, and other thought leaders within the designated Michigan region.

• Interact with customers regarding emerging data, clinical trials, barriers in patient journeys, market dynamics, unmet medical needs, pipeline topics, disease-state and product education, adverse events, and medical insights.

• Formulate a strategic vision for the territory, identify and map key stakeholders and accounts, and plan medical engagements in alignment with medical strategies.

• Recognize partnership opportunities with academic institutions, centers of excellence, and care systems.

• Identify avenues for healthcare provider participation in publications, clinical trials, and other medical initiatives.

• Collaborate internally with Novartis stakeholders to promote therapeutic area, clinical, and product objectives.

• Provide medical support for company-sponsored clinical trials and engage cross-functionally with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations.

• Work alongside HEOR, access, marketing, commercial, and sales teams while ensuring compliance and maintaining a customer-centric approach.

• Act as a medical resource by possessing deep knowledge of the assigned therapeutic area and Novartis compounds.

• Stay informed about internal policies, external regulations, travel and expense policies, and relevant laws.

• Fulfill administrative duties and training, which include Veeva CRM, email, voicemail, expense reporting, and compliance modules.

• Profile primary customers and keep CRM information up to date.

• Advocate for emerging responsibilities as strategic priorities and territorial needs evolve.

⛳️ Requirements

• Graduate degree in science or healthcare is mandatory.

• Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, DNP, PharmD, etc.) is preferred.

• For Manager level: 0–3 years of experience in a Field Medical role within the pharmaceutical sector or as an MSL is required.

• For Associate Director level: 5–7 years of relevant experience in medical affairs, clinical research, or related scientific or clinical fields is necessary.

• Strong clinical understanding of pharmacotherapy, treatment guidelines, clinical research methodologies, and strategies for engaging medical experts.

• Familiarity with FDA promotional guidelines, regulations, and ethical standards applicable to the pharmaceutical industry.

• Compliance with Novartis policies, as well as Ethics, Compliance, and Promotional policies, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

• Residence within the designated territory or within a reasonable daily commuting distance of 50 miles from the territory's border.

• Approximately 60–70% travel is required.

• A valid, fully licensed, and unrestricted driver’s license is required, as driving is a fundamental aspect of the position.

• Ability to successfully complete initial training, which includes home study, of eight or fewer hours per day and a maximum of forty hours per week.

• Previous experience in the designated or a related therapeutic area is preferred.
