This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +1 more state.
• Engage with leading hospital-based clinicians and researchers to ascertain scientific needs and gather insights that align with Protara's strategies.
• The MSL plays a vital role in providing evidence-based data and sharing the latest treatment guidelines with hospital personnel.
• Cultivate and sustain scientific, clinical, and technical knowledge in Protara’s portfolio related to rare diseases and uro-oncology through continuous training and self-directed learning.
• Create territory plans for designated areas that incorporate strategies and tactics for engaging with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs).
• Assist in the execution of clinical trials, including participant recruitment and site outreach as needed.
• Identify, establish, and nurture collaborative relationships with key investigators, institutional leaders, medical groups, and consortia.
• Provide scientific evidence and clinical trial information to healthcare professionals, clinical trial personnel, and payors.
• Enhance the medical community's awareness of the company and improve interactions with thought leaders.
• Support the training of new MSL hires and the design and implementation of effective training programs.
• Assist in developing and executing advisory boards and other scientific meetings.
• Monitor the competitive landscape in specific therapeutic areas of interest to the company.
• Carry out MSL activities in compliance with all related policies and standard operating procedures.
• Address unsolicited medical inquiries related to clinical trials and scientific exchange.
• An advanced clinical or science degree or relevant professional credentials (MD/DO, PhD, PharmD, PA, NP, RN) are required.
• 3-5+ years of experience in the biotechnology, startup, or pharmaceutical sectors, preferably within Medical Affairs.
• A minimum of 3 years of MSL experience and collaboration with internal cross-functional teams.
• Experience in oncology and rare diseases is mandatory.
• Must have a background in a hospital, institutional, or clinical/pharmacy environment.
• A strong commitment to personal excellence and accountability is essential.
• A business-oriented mindset is necessary.
• Possession of creative problem-solving abilities is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, team-focused setting.
• Strong organizational and business planning capabilities are crucial.
• Ability to communicate effectively and openly with management, team members, HCPs/TLs, nurse coordinators, clinical trial site personnel, and payors.
• Strong analytical skills, particularly in understanding and interpreting scientific and clinical research and literature, are essential.
• Must be adaptable, energetic, and comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.
• Motivated by a hands-on approach and willing to take initiative.
• Willingness to travel extensively (up to approximately 60%, both domestic and international), including potential weekend congress commitments.
