This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Process, retrieve, review, and load relevant medical records and bills in both electronic and physical formats.
• Receive and fulfill requests for medical records from patients, attorneys, insurance companies, healthcare providers, and authorized third parties.
• Ensure that records are complete, accurate, and comply with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
• Upload, index, and systematically organize medical documentation within the case management system.
• Verify patient information and secure the necessary authorizations before releasing records.
• Monitor pending requests and communicate with healthcare providers to minimize delays.
• Identify any missing documentation and work with providers to obtain complete records.
• Maintain comprehensive tracking of requests, receipts, and processing timelines.
• Collaborate with legal, case management, and operations teams to assist active cases.
• Review records for completeness and escalate any discrepancies or concerns.
• Uphold confidentiality when managing sensitive medical information.
• Assist with audits and quality assurance initiatives.
• Support process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing turnaround times.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of experience in medical records/medical billing, health information management, healthcare administration, a related field, personal injury, or workers' compensation.
• Solid understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical records privacy requirements.
• Familiarity with digital systems and various platforms.
• Strong organizational abilities and exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Capacity to prioritize multiple requests while adhering to deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
