Medical Illustrator, Science Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee scientific planning and direction across multiple simultaneous projects.

• Establish anatomy scope, interaction logic, and asset specifications.

• Create and maintain production guides (PGs) as the scientific foundation for each initiative.

• Ensure a balance between scientific accuracy, clinical relevance, and technical feasibility.

• Conduct continuous scientific quality assurance throughout the production process.

• Verify anatomy accuracy, interaction logic, clinical relevance, and edge cases.

• Deliver structured, actionable feedback to 3D and production teams.

• Simplify complex clinical concepts into clear, production-ready directives for a team of 3D artists and engineers.

• Develop storyboards, science briefs, and supporting documentation.

• Serve as the liaison between clients, account teams, and production.

• Collaborate across disciplines to enhance efficient workflows.

• Manage several projects concurrently with a keen attention to detail.

⛳️ Requirements

• Educational background in medical illustration, biomedical visualization, or a related field, with strong anatomy or clinical knowledge.

• Proven experience in leading scientific or content direction for immersive media (XR/VR/AR) and quality assurance of deliverables.

• Strong comprehension of 3D production pipelines and technical limitations.

• Established ability to convert client feedback into clear and actionable production guidance.

• Experience in creating storyboards, production guides, or similar pre-production documentation.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• High level of attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.

• Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and possessing visual communication skills.

• Access to a Meta Quest 3 device for quality assurance.

• Experience with medical device or procedural training content is a plus.

• Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana or Notion is a plus.
