This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Evaluate provider documentation from office visits, surgical procedures, and various wound care services.
• Allocate the correct ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and CPT/HCPCS procedure codes in accordance with established coding guidelines and payer regulations.
• Ensure coding precision and thoroughness to facilitate correct claim submissions and minimize denials.
• Inquire with providers when documentation is lacking, ambiguous, or inconsistent with coding standards.
• Stay updated on advancements in wound care coding, changes in payer policies, and compliance regulations.
• Work in conjunction with the billing team to address claim rejections, denials, and issues related to coding.
• Uphold the confidentiality of patient information in line with HIPAA regulations.
• Engage in coding audits and offer insights to enhance documentation and coding accuracy.
• Aid in educating providers and staff on improving documentation related to orthopedic coding.
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or its equivalent from AAPC/AHIMA.
• At least 2 years of coding experience, preferably in wound care or a related field.
• Understanding of office-based E/M and wound care procedures (preferred).
• Knowledge of payer-specific wound care coding guidelines (preferred).
• Proficiency in EHR and coding software systems (preferred).
