HIM Coder – Per Diem

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assigns the correct codes to represent all diagnoses and procedures in accordance with coding standards.

• Transforms all patient visits and encounters into suitable DRG assignments for reimbursement purposes.

• Evaluates patient medical records and extracts relevant medical data.

• Codes diagnoses, procedures, and applicable modifiers based on documentation in medical records.

• Inputs coded and abstracted information into the Medical Center's electronic database.

⛳️ Requirements

• Knowledge equivalent to that typically gained through the completion of an Associate's Degree in Health Information, Medical Records, or a related field.

• Three years of inpatient coding experience in a Level 1 Trauma, Teaching Facility.

• Certification as a Coding Specialist is preferred.

• Inpatient CCS, RHIT, or RHIA credentials from AHIMA are required.

• Strong understanding of health records, computer systems, Microsoft applications, data integrity, and processing techniques is essential.
