Certified Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage work queues/dashboard for designated providers and specialties, including coding, researching, and analyzing coding/billing practices.

• Accurately code all recorded professional services rendered in both clinic and other facilities.

• Apply CPT-4, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifiers in accordance with coding standards.

• Follow official coding standards set by AMA and CMS.

• Possess expertise in evaluating assigned providers/specialty areas.

• Ensure that coded services, provider charges, and medical record documentation comply with relevant guidelines and standards.

• Stay updated on coding standards and reimbursement reporting requirements.

• Demonstrate knowledge of the healthcare sector in relation to coding, revenue cycle management, claims, and specific state regulations/laws.

• Guarantee timely review and processing of daily charge submissions.

• Conduct monthly report reviews to identify and extract any missed charges within assigned specialties.

• Collaborate effectively with the Team to achieve monthly objectives.

• Responsible for developing and updating reference materials for assigned specialties as necessary (e.g., tip sheets, coding guidelines).

• Employ appropriate applications/methods to ensure all documented professional services are submitted in a timely manner.

• Capable of identifying, trending, and summarizing potential compliance, coding, and billing issues, and proposing potential solutions.

• Additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.

• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Required Coding Certification(s): CPC, CCS-P, CCA, CCS or RHIT, RHIA.

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience is required; 5+ years’ experience is preferred.

• Experience with multispecialty coding is preferred.

• EMR experience is required; exposure to various EMRs is preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
