Medical Coding Specialist II – Anesthesia/Pain Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Leverage available encoder, grouper software, and various coding resources to identify the correct ICD-10-CM, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes, including specialty-specific codes and Evaluation and Management (E&M) codes.

• Possess a thorough understanding and apply knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives (NCCI), Local Coverage Documents, and National Coverage Documents (LCD/NCD) guidelines, Medically Unlikely Edits (MUEs), as well as Medicare Teaching Physician Guidelines, utilizing knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and institutional protocols to select suitable codes and modifiers.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent along with required medical coding education.

• An active coding certification is required in lieu of medical coding education.

• An Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred.

• A minimum of 1 year of progressive coding experience is required (specific to HCC for HCC-specific roles).

• Preferred is 2 years of progressive coding experience across various specialties, including HCC Risk Adjustment Coding.

• At hire, certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist Physician-Based (CCS-P), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) is mandatory.

• Preferred credentials include Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
