This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Analyze behavioral health documentation and review coding results using ICD-10-CM and CPT, transforming them into actionable provider education and feedback.
• Assess the accuracy of flagged findings, verify genuine errors, and pinpoint incorrectly flagged items for correction and escalation.
• Address inquiries from providers and internal teams regarding behavioral health coding, documentation, and billing findings.
• Provide clear, precise, and compassionate responses through support channels such as Zendesk.
• Create educational content for providers, identify documentation deficiencies, and offer guidance on documentation standards.
• Collaborate with the Customer Experience team to develop knowledge-base content and resources.
• Offer insights on coding trends, highlight risk areas, and suggest enhancements to tools, processes, and training.
• Work in partnership with cross-functional teams on initiatives aimed at enhancing the provider audit-support experience.
• Remain updated on coding guidelines, payer regulations, and industry standards through ongoing education and self-directed learning.
• A valid Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is mandatory.
• 1–2 years of coding experience in outpatient or professional services, preferably in behavioral health.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding standards and documentation requirements.
• Capability to communicate clearly and empathetically when educating providers or discussing sensitive feedback.
• Ability to balance supportive coaching with the enforcement of provider policies, payer standards, and compliance regulations.
• Competence to independently draw and justify accurate coding and documentation conclusions on behavioral health notes.
• Previous experience in educating providers on medical decision making (MDM) for outpatient Evaluation and Management (E/M) services.
• High attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced digital environment.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, Zoom, and EMR platforms, or a willingness to learn.
• Ability to collaborate across functions in a tech-forward environment.
• CPMA certification is a plus.
