Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Accurately apply ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes in accordance with documentation and services provided.

• Ensure correct code sequencing, modifiers, and adherence to payer and regulatory standards.

• Examine and rectify coding-related mistakes, denials, or rejected claims.

• Complete necessary documentation or system entries pertaining to claims.

• Extract additional data elements during the Chart Review process.

• Assess patient medical records and clinical documentation.

• Identify any incomplete or missing documentation and coordinate queries with providers.

• Keep abreast of coding regulations, payer policies, and healthcare guidelines.

• Facilitate clean claim submissions and ensure billing accuracy.

• Collaborate with Billing, AR, and Authorization teams.

• Uphold productivity and accuracy benchmarks.

• Assist in audit and compliance initiatives.

• Engage in internal and client quality audits/reviews.

• Mentor, coach, and guide billers on correct coding and billing practices.

• Adhere to team and/or client procedures, policies, and methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Capability to handle and maintain confidential information.

• Graduate of medical allied programs such as Nursing, Physical Therapy, or Medical Technology (preferred but not mandatory).

• Minimum 6-month consultancy contract, with the possibility of renewal.

• 1–3 years of experience in medical coding.

• Experience in gastroenterology is required.

• An active coding license is required, such as CPC.

• Flexibility to manage various specialties and client assignments.

• Understanding of ICD-9 or ICD-10 coding systems.

• Capability and willingness to assist, coach, and train billers on coding-specific needs.

• Ability to share coding expertise with team members.

• Data entry proficiency with 50–60 accurate keystrokes per minute.

• Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and time management abilities.

• Capacity to work from home with a reliable internet connection and backup.
