This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• You will be responsible for coding hospital and professional inpatient visits utilizing the International Classification of Disease 10-Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) and Current Procedure Terminology (CPT) coding methodologies, ensuring compliance with official coding and reimbursement guidelines.
• You will operate under general supervision and report directly to the Director of HIM.
• Your role includes professional CPT coding for Medicare and similar payers.
• You will be tasked with abstracting all necessary data elements into the WellSky EMR platform.
• You will leverage the TruBridge encoder integration to assess Medical Necessity edits, CCs, MCCs, coding order, and DRG assignments.
• You are expected to maintain an up-to-date understanding of all coding rules, guidelines, and regulations related to Medicare and similar payers, in accordance with hospital coding compliance policies and procedures.
• An associate or bachelor's degree from an AHIMA-approved program is required.
• Previous experience in Health Information Management, specifically within a coding department and/or behavioral health coding/facility is necessary.
• Certification from AHIMA is required (including CCA, with full credentials to be obtained within one year of hire).
• Certification from AAPC is required (including apprentice, with full credentials to be obtained within one year of hire).
• A Medical Coding certification and/or a minimum of two years of experience in psychiatric ICD-10-CM and CPT coding, including E/M coding following the 2023 guidelines, is essential.
• The ability to accurately code using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 guidelines through the TruBridge Encoder integration within our EMR is crucial.
• You must be capable of coding for one or more hospital locations.
• Experience with Medicare and similar insurance coding for professional services in the Behavioral Health clinical areas for both Tara Vista and Mira Vista Behavioral Health is required.
