This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Review inpatient or outpatient medical records from hospitals and professionals to identify primary and secondary diagnoses, as well as procedures.

• Analyze laboratory results, radiology and scan reports, discharge summaries, histories and physicals, consultations, orders, progress notes, and other ancillary treatment records.

• Convert diagnostic and procedural terminology into coded format using procedure codes.

• Utilize Encoder software to ascertain diagnosis and procedure codes.

• Arrange codes to legally enhance reimbursement outcomes.

• Assign the correct DRG.

• Adhere to hospital and professional coding guidelines, Coding Clinic directives, federal regulations, CCI coding initiatives, CPT Assistant, and other standard coding protocols.

• Engage with physicians to clarify documentation, ensuring complete and precise coding.

• Conduct an annual review of coding guidelines and propose modifications to enhance coding and data management.

• Inform the Coding Quality and Professional Manager about new diagnoses, procedures, and technologies.

• Revise and correct historical file data by completing and submitting claim action reports in accordance with the PHC4 quarterly report.

• Fulfill job-specific responsibilities while adhering to organizational policies and procedures.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) (Required).

• At least 1 year of relevant work experience (Required).

• Attainment of a relevant coding certification within 12 months.

• For level II and above, one relevant certification from AHIMA or AAPC is mandatory upon hiring.

• Candidates with a CCA must secure a CCS, RHIT, or RHIA within 12 months of employment.

• Understanding of AHIMA or AAPC coding certifications and relevant coding standards.

• Proficiency with Encoder software.

• Strong communication skills.

• Competence in computer literacy.

• Knowledge of medical records management.

• Familiarity with medical records systems.

• Ability to work as part of a team.

• Capability to work independently.

• Compliance with coding guidelines, federal regulations, and organizational policies and procedures is essential.

• Not eligible for J-1 waiver.
