This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Navigate and operate within our proprietary electronic medical record system to assess and process patient health information, determining outcomes for various medical and specialty examinations.
• Review a diverse array of examination documentation, test results, assessments, and information, and through phone interviews with Service Members and Veterans, produce a clear, comprehensive, and concise final output.
• Collaborate with providers, Veterans, and Service Members via the call line to ensure examinations adhere to regulatory and contractual requirements for compensation and benefit rating purposes.
• Demonstrate the ability to shift focus and multitask while maintaining a professional demeanor to meet the needs of customers and providers.
• Identify urgent behavioral health issues and initiate intervention as necessary.
• Stay informed about the contract requirements.
• Utilize guidelines and licensed support to ensure clear, comprehensive, and concise exam documentation that accurately reflects the conditions of Service Members or Veterans and complies with contract requirements.
• Document test results.
• Educate and assist providers, Veterans, and Service Members in navigating and using medical history information for pending and prior disability claims during the appointment paperwork process.
• Identify and assess examination documentation that necessitates immediate follow-up for behavioral health issues and initiate the high-risk intervention protocol.
• Complete system-generated tasks to process examination documentation.
• Communicate via telephone (approximately 50%) and email with contracted providers, Veterans, and Service Members to retrieve necessary Disability Benefits Questionnaire information and provide education regarding required contractual protocols.
• Vocational or Technical Training/Education in a medical-related field such as Medical Assistant, LPN, Health Information Technology (HIT), EMT, Medic, Corpsman, or completion of the following four courses: Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Human Body Systems, and Common Diseases, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or applicable military experience will be considered. MA’s with certification are highly preferred.
• Ability to type at a speed of 40 words per minute.
• Knowledge of healthcare documentation, including medical, behavioral, and psychological terminology.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong telephone etiquette and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficient understanding of technical writing.
• Ability to identify lab results and ancillary services.
• Experience using a computer and Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word, to create, copy, edit, send, and save documents.
• Ability to interpret medical documentation.
• Experience working within an Electronic Medical Record system.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CT or 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM CT.
• A distraction-free, dedicated workspace in the home for a home office.
• Access to high-speed internet (cable or fiber optic).
• Bonus Points If You Also Have:
• Experience navigating Microsoft Teams.
• Home Health or Hospice care experience.
• Military experience.
