Media and Editorial Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist the Head of Media and Public Engagement in fostering relationships with journalists, editors, and media platforms, while helping to cultivate strong media connections over time.

• Conduct focused media landscape assessments to pinpoint relevant platforms and journalists for outreach and relationship building.

• Maintain and enhance media contact databases and handle incoming media inquiries.

• Execute daily media monitoring, track brand visibility, and proactively seek engagement opportunities.

• Evaluate media coverage to aid the team in generating actionable insights.

• Assist in the creation of op-eds, essays, and media commentary from key spokespeople—this includes research, drafting support, editing, and coordinating submissions.

• Refine and strengthen content from the network to uphold consistent editorial standards.

• Coordinate ongoing editorial cycles, including tracking submissions and supporting revisions across various pieces.

• Oversee projects and contribute to the editorial output and audience engagement of public engagement platforms, encompassing written and video content series.

• Aid in identifying and securing speaking engagements that align with team priorities.

• Contribute to the drafting and coordination of press releases, press kits, and other communication materials.

• Manage the creation and upkeep of a spokesperson database, coordinating preparation and assistance for spokespeople across media opportunities.

• Oversee and maintain the team’s systems and processes, including the journalist CRM, media monitoring dissemination, and contact database management (training provided).

• Develop and maintain trackers for thought leadership output, media placements, and team pipelines.

• Collaborate with the Communications team and other departments within the organization on joint projects.

• Lead logistics for the team’s events, including scheduling, briefing documents, and post-event follow-ups.

• Manage team communications and oversee the general media inquiry inbox.

• Exceptional writing skills with the ability to generate clear, precise, and engaging prose.

• Strong editorial instincts: you can review drafts and pinpoint areas for enhancement in structure, clarity, and impact.

• Solid media knowledge: you comprehend how newsrooms function, have a genuine interest in global affairs, and can spot opportunities to effectively position ideas.

• Excellent organizational, project management, and operational abilities. You enjoy managing systems, processes, and multiple workstreams, and take pride in ensuring seamless operations.

• Analytical capabilities to monitor media coverage, recognize patterns, and support the team in developing insights.

• Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building abilities to maintain connections with internal stakeholders.

• Capacity to work effectively across cultural differences in a fast-paced, dynamic, and globally dispersed environment.

• A solutions-oriented, proactive problem-solver with a design-thinking approach, comfortable brainstorming and utilizing rapid prototyping to navigate challenges.
