This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +6 more states.
• Demonstrated experience in estimating self-performed mechanical and piping scopes across various US regions in industrial sectors including: Chemical and petrochemical, Refining and midstream, Power generation, Food & beverage and sanitary process systems, Pharmaceutical, biotech, and advanced manufacturing.
• Solid background in estimating: Greenfield and brownfield projects, Plant expansions, upgrades, and live-plant operations, Shutdowns and brief industrial outages.
• Familiarity with supporting Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, EPC, and negotiated project delivery approaches.
• In-depth knowledge of industrial piping systems, which includes: Carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome/moly, alloy steels, Sanitary and hygienic piping systems, as well as Plastic and lined piping (PVC, CPVC, HDPE, FRP).
• Comprehensive understanding of: Piping fabrication versus field erection tradeoffs, Welding processes, NDE, and documentation necessities, Pipe supports, specialty valves, and packaged equipment tie-ins.
• Execute precise quantity take-offs from P&IDs, isometrics, layouts, and specifications for projects spanning multiple states.
• Account for constructability, congestion, and sequencing effects on labor productivity.
• Proficient with estimating and take-off tools such as: Trimble Autobid or comparable on-screen takeoff software, Bluebeam, BuildingConnected / Trade Tapp.
• Preference for the ability to interpret 3D models (Navisworks, etc.).
• Strong comprehension of contract structures, including: Lump sum, GMP, Unit rate, and T&M.
• Capability to identify and assess labor-driven risks such as: Productivity loss, Staffing limitations, Schedule compression, Owner-imposed operational constraints.
• Develop comprehensive: Estimate narratives, Labor assumptions and productivity bases, Exclusions, clarifications, and contingency suggestions.
• Engage in internal risk assessments and executive pricing approvals for concurrent projects in various states.
• Highly proficient in a remote or hybrid estimating environment, upholding productivity, accuracy, and schedule compliance without direct on-site supervision.
• Experienced in collaborating with geographically dispersed teams of estimators, operations leaders, and project stakeholders through virtual meeting platforms and shared estimating systems.
• Comfortable leading or contributing to estimates across multiple regions while ensuring uniformity in labor assumptions, pricing strategies, and risk management.
• Able to accommodate limited travel requirements for: Site inspections and constructability assessments, Pre-bid meetings and client presentations, Key project kickoffs or risk review milestones.
• Travel availability aligned with monthly to quarterly needs, based on project demands.
• Guide estimating initiatives for self-performed mechanical piping scopes.
• Mentor junior estimators and take-off personnel.
• Collaborate closely with: Operations and field leadership, Project management, Engineering and procurement.
• Assist in preconstruction meetings, site visits, and client presentations.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety best practices.
• Experience in integrating site-specific safety protocols into labor and cost models.
• Understanding of QA/QC requirements associated with piping fabrication and installation.
• Highly analytical with a strong command of labor cost factors.
• Detail-focused with excellent organizational capabilities.
• Effective communicator able to defend estimates both internally and externally.
• Comfortable functioning in high-paced, competitive environments.
