This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +8 more states.
• Create comprehensive designs for coating equipment.
• Design layouts for new coating machinery.
• Provide calculations for utility and throughput functionalities.
• Generate equipment specifications and assist with project support during development phases.
• Conceptualize new machine designs for equipment opportunities utilizing ACAD and/or SolidWorks.
• Conduct capacity studies using part data to ascertain equipment size and throughput.
• Assess utility requirements for both new and existing equipment.
• Formulate equipment specifications for subcomponents of coating systems.
• Prepare Equipment Design Overviews for client proposals.
• Design machine components, subsystems, and master assemblies within a model-centric framework.
• Evaluate and select pumps, mixers, oven burners, exhaust fans, monorail chain conveyors, and conveyor drives.
• Ensure that designs comply with process sequences, engineering standards, relevant codes, customer specifications, and budget constraints.
• Work collaboratively with internal fabrication teams and external vendors to enhance manufacturability and design quality.
• Partner with suppliers to establish capital costs.
• Develop and maintain 2D layouts for planning and system concepts.
• Analyze customer RFQs and create custom equipment solutions.
• Complete P&IDs for effective information transfer to both internal and external clients.
• Establish project timelines for new equipment manufacturing.
• Revise standard machines to enhance quality, competitiveness, value, and cost efficiency.
• Serve as a technical resource and engage in cross-functional teams.
• Undertake additional assignments and special projects as required.
• A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
• In-depth knowledge of 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or a similar program) is essential.
• Open to the possibility of remote work.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time outside the base office location.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in design-to-build environments for large capital equipment projects is preferred.
• Experience in designing paint coating equipment and systems (such as washers, ovens, immersion tanks, and conveyor systems) is highly desirable.
• Proficient in using ACAD and/or SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with equipment design, engineering, and manufacturing principles is necessary.
• Capability to perform capacity studies and utility calculations.
• Knowledge of P&IDs, equipment specifications, relevant codes, customer specifications, and engineering standards is required.
