Math Instructor, 9th - 11th Grade

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement a comprehensive college-preparatory curriculum for driven high school Scholars.

• Act as a coach and facilitator, employing a student-centered approach to learning.

• Co-teach three to four class periods, including English Language Arts (ELA) and Advisory.

• Independently lead classes when substituting for a fellow instructor.

• Adhere to lesson plans and achieve lesson objectives while ensuring rigorous instruction and student engagement.

• Acquire and effectively utilize Brightspace, Nearpod, G Suite applications, and Zoom chat.

• Read, comprehend, practice, and modify lesson plans and materials to cater to student needs.

• Organize open-door lunch tutoring sessions and offer academic support.

• Foster a dynamic, engaging, and approachable classroom environment.

• Participate in scheduled meetings, professional development sessions, check-ins, and debriefs.

• Respond promptly to emails and Zoom chats.

• Meet at least twice during the semester with the designated instructional coach and apply the feedback received.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant content area.

• Teaching certification, K-12 classroom teaching experience, and/or experience in teaching at the college or university level.

• A reliable personal laptop that meets the basic technology requirements.

• Experience working with high school students.

• Proficiency in navigating technological learning systems.

• Strong expertise and in-depth knowledge of advanced high school-level Mathematics.

• Willingness to engage in discussions analyzing the historical and ongoing causes of societal issues and challenges.

• Preferred understanding and practice of student-centered pedagogy.

• Preferred knowledge and experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

• Preferred certifications, professional development course completions, and/or higher education in Instructional Technologies.
