Math Competition Teacher, AMC8/10

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Instruct AMC 8 math classes in a clear, engaging, and student-focused manner.

• Provide competition-oriented lessons utilizing Think Academy's curriculum, lesson materials, and instructional resources.

• Assist students in developing problem-solving abilities, mathematical reasoning, and confidence in competitions.

• Introduce innovative and challenging mathematical concepts beyond the standard curriculum, such as combinatorics, number theory, geometry, and logic.

• Oversee a virtual or in-person classroom while fostering a positive learning atmosphere.

• Evaluate homework and deliver prompt academic feedback.

• Maintain professional communication with students and parents regarding progress, performance, and competition objectives.

• Engage in teacher training, lesson preparation, and continuous professional development.

• Work approximately 30–40 hours weekly, with the majority of classes scheduled during weekday afternoons/evenings and weekends.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree completed or currently in progress.

• Strong foundation in mathematics, especially in competition math topics.

• Personal involvement in AMC 8, AMC 10/12, or other math competitions is advantageous.

• A passion for making competition math engaging and accessible for middle school students.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Willingness to commit to at least one semester with a fixed teaching schedule (Fall semester concludes in Dec. 2026).

• Availability to work during weekday afternoons/evenings and weekends.

• Experience in tutoring, mentoring, coaching, camp teaching, or working with K–8 students is a plus.

• Willing to participate in a 5-day on-site training (paid) in San Jose, CA as part of the onboarding process.
