Maternal Medical Records Abstractor – Obstetrics, OBGYN

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Thoroughly identify and extract relevant information from medical records.

• Record findings for evaluation by the MD MMRT.

• Abstract cases within a designated timeframe.

• Coordinate notifications with the MDH Maternal Mortality Review Coordinator.

• Participate in monthly MD MMRT meetings and provide assistance during case evaluations.

• Ensure all data is comprehensive, impartial, and adheres to confidentiality regulations (e.g., HIPAA).

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of five years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in public health, healthcare, or a related field, with obstetrics experience.

• Proficient in medical record review with a thorough understanding of medical records organization.

• Adaptability and capability to complete tasks within tight deadlines.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Familiarity with HIPAA and confidentiality regulations.

• Ability to act as an objective, unbiased storyteller.

• Strong interpersonal abilities along with exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• Proficient in word processing and data entry applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

• Capacity to keep organized and accurate records.
