This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Assist attorneys with fact investigations, witness interviews, drafting legal documents and correspondence, conducting legal research, preparing and producing documents, managing databases, docketing/case management, and overall client service.
• Prepare materials and assist in the preparation for depositions, hearings, trials, and related proceedings, and attend these events as necessary.
• Engage in pre-trial preparations and attend trials.
• Draft pleadings and discovery documents.
• Coordinate the filing of pleadings/documents and arrange for their service.
• Gather and summarize medical and/or other pertinent records.
• Assist with calendaring and docketing tasks.
• Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices.
• Serve as a liaison among clients, colleagues, and experts to ensure timely communication of case information and material production.
• Stay updated on developments within the product liability practice areas and the Paralegal profession.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and attitude at all times.
• Adhere to firm policies and procedures.
• Ensure attention to detail and the quality of work is sustained.
• Learn and develop technical skills in database usage and management, as well as internet/electronic research and the maintenance of project folders/electronic files.
• Independently organize and manage files or delegate similar tasks to Paralegal Assistants or Information Governance and supervise their work.
• Attend and engage in in-house CLEs.
• Provide mentorship to Paralegal Assistants.
• Anticipate the needs of attorneys.
• Manage all key responsibilities independently without supervision from another Paralegal or Senior Paralegal.
• Achieve a billable hour requirement of 1500 hours per year.
• Experience in Asbestos, Silicosis, or other Toxic Tort litigation is mandatory (specific to California).
• A Paralegal Certificate or a Bachelor’s degree in a law-related field, or an Associate’s degree accompanied by paralegal training.
